Electronics Technician I - Second Shift
University of Iowa Health Care department of Engineering Services is seeking a Electronics Tech I. This position will be full-time with a primary schedule of 3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Wednesday - Saturday including weekends and holidays as scheduled for on-call.
Under general supervision, this position involves constructing, modifying, and maintaining electronic equipment utilized for instruction, research, medical patient care, pneumatic tube equipment, fire alarm systems, electrical maintenance or other university programs and services.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Builds custom electronic equipment according to designs prepared by engineers or supervisory personnel. Assists in preparing schematic and wiring diagrams.
Repairs developmental and production electronic equipment such as computers oscilloscopes and X-ray equipment after consultation regarding diagnosis of the repair problem.
Modifies functions of various equipment to conform to specific requirements.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and electronic instruments.
Calibrates and adjusts electronic equipment to insure optimum performance.
Attends conferences and workshops to keep abreast of developments in the field.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems, including testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including troubleshooting electrical issues and performing routine inspections to ensure system reliability.
Install, repair, and maintain pneumatic tube systems used for internal communication of documents and materials. Ensure proper operation of pneumatic components, troubleshoot system malfunctions, and perform routine inspections.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a two-year resident electronics trade school, or any combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and ability can be acquired.
