Qualifications:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology form an APA-accredited program, Master’s degree in Social Work with clinical focus from a CSWE-accredited program, or Master’s degree in Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Psychologist: Possession of a valid State of Iowa License as a psychologist within 18 months of hire. Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Licensed as an LISW, LMSW, or LMHC in the State of Iowa by date of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
  • Psychologist: Relevant post degree experience (typically 1-3 years), or satisfactory completion of a psychology doctoral internship. Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years).
  • Extensive knowledge of evidence and theory based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual, and group with a university/college student population.
  • Extensive ability to assess, manage, and ensure high quality mental health counselling and crisis management.
  • Extensive proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services with residence hall constituencies or related audience.
  • Working knowledge of providing supervision to trainees.
  • Extensive proficiency in the application of communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Extensive proficiency in collaborating and interacting with individuals and groups while valuing the unique contribution of individuals of varied culture, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  • Working proficiency with office support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g. word processing, email, presentation software, spreadsheets, and electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office and Titanium EHR.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working proficiency with students who are Mandarin speaking; Indigenous and Native American; Asian Indian; Black/African American; Latinx; LGBTQ+; and/or first generation.
  • Interest in and experience working with first year undergraduate college students and students early in their college experience.
  • Interest and experience in being entrepreneurial in the continual creation of new service systems.
