The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a 100% Engineering Coordinator to work in the Maintenance and Engineering Department – HVAC Mechanical Shop.

Duties to include

  • The Engineering Coordinator will oversee and participate in the daily and regulatory tasks of the HVAC shop, helps coordinate daily staff activities, and other associated mechanical operations for UIHC.
  • Primary responsibilities includes, working with design and construction/capital management to make sure large capital projects are designed, constructed and completed within the UIHC recommended standards
  • Training of new hires within HVAC shop
  • Helping troubleshoot HVAC Equipment, including pneumatic and DDC control systems
  • Maintaining and updating HVAC utility drawings  organizing and performing the repair, maintenance, installation and inspection of HVAC  systems and equipment
  • Evaluate HVAC systems to analyze and see what improvements need to be implemented for efficiency;
  • Coordination of contractor activity
  • Oversee HVAC and compliance with regulatory and departmental policies and procedures including infection control measures, scheduling calibration of measuring equipment
  • Works cooperatively with the Engineering Services Department management team, Capital Management Department to ensure urgent needs are met in a timely manner
  • This position will report to the HVAC Supervisor of Engineering Services

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • BS in Engineering or an equivalent combination of related education and experience within an emphasis on utilizing building automation systems to evaluate HVAC operations in support of energy conservation practices

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years; experience in complex HVAC systems, including experience in installation, operation, and retro-commissioning as it relates
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer focused, team-oriented environment
  • Plan, schematic, and blueprint reading
  • Skill in utilizing computer software such as design, scheduling, planning and or data management
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on technical equipment
  • Knowledge of process and procedures related to the design and coordination of new and remodel/repair projects
  • Knowledge of DDC/pneumatic building automation systems
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork and interact with clients in a professional and responsive manner
