Qualifications:

Education or Equivalency Required

  • A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or
  • Associate degree in chemistry, industrial technology, hazardous materials management, or environmental science, that includes coursework in chemistry and organic chemistry, plus two years related working experience, or 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills to interpret safe disposal information and discuss procedures with diverse laboratory personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and contribute to a positive and productive team culture.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and mobile devices for data recording and retrieval. 
  • Possession of a valid state or commercial driver's license, ability to meet University Fleet Safety Standards, including the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with a Hazardous Materials Endorsement within 3 months of employment.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with handling hazardous materials.
  • Familiarity with chemical safety, waste management, research environments, RCRA, DOT and OSHA regulations.  
  • Familiarity with radiation safety and associated regulations.
  • Familiarity with biological safety and associated regulations.
  • Experience with data entry.
  • Experience with use of forklift.
