Education Required:

BS/BA/BFA degree in theatrical production for theatre and/or opera or equivalent educational and professional experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience beyond the BS/BA/BFA degree is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently from costume renderings, drawings, and sketches with only verbal instructions from the Costume Manager. Demonstrated professional working proficiency level.
  • Working experience and demonstrable skill in costume construction including, draping, pattern creation, cutting, sewing, and costume crafts

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in the creation of Millinery
  • Ability to mix dye and alter color with the use of a commercial dye vat.
  • Experience in the creation of fantasy costumes such as cosplay, Carnivale, and Historical Reenactments.
  • Working experience in teaching students/mentoring inexperienced students in theatrical costume construction techniques
  • Sewing machine repair and maintenance.
