The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Building & Landscape Services, Custodial Daytime Service Area as a Facilities Mechanic III. Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.

Hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday - Friday. May be required to work on call or work overtime as scheduled or in emergencies. Position has bloodborne pathogen exposure risk.

Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 700 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of our beautiful Iowa City campus. FM staff coordinate campus master planning, manage design & construction, maintain & clean the buildings & the grounds, and provide utilities management.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and
• Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain compliance with the University’s Driving Policy.

Desired Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
