Facility Coordinator
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Proficient in general maintenance (such as upkeep of laboratory furniture, and installation of tank restraints or shelving).
Ability to perform minor carpentry work (general and basic repairs, i.e. hanging pictures, assembling furniture, casework adjustments).
Function independently as well as a member of the team, able to meet ambitious deadlines, including demonstrated experience working with confidential projects using discretion and independent judgment.
Excellent customer services skills, including ability to build relationships and ability to reach a common goal with customers in a positive outcome/experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required including ability to compose communications and grammatically correct documents in a concise, logical and organized manner.
Ability to attend meetings and events outside of normal working hours. Ability to have a flexible work schedule that can accommodate after-hours calls with possibility to come into the workplace. Ability to cover emergent situations that may occur after hours, sharing this duty with other CCOM Facilities managers. Possibility of flexible schedule.
Proficiency in computer software applications including Microsoft Outlook.
Desired Qualifications:
1 year of experience with carpentry, electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing).
Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures is desirable.
Prior work in a higher education research facility/office and familiarity with biomedical research laboratories.
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (Pro or DC) desirable.
