The department of Material Services is seeking a full-time Fleet Coordinator. This position will be scheduled Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position oversees and supports the daily driving operations conducted by Material Services. This includes, but is not limited to, courier routes, supply routes from LMC warehouse and ISC case cart transport. Acts as the liaison between drivers, Processed Stores, Central Sterilizing and off-site clinics.

  • Operational Support and Management: support the daily driving operations for Material Services. Maintain and educate on current policies and procedures. Create protocols and policies as necessary. Make decisions related to staffing. Responsible for scheduling drivers. Communicate with drivers, supervisor, department director and other business partners as needed.
  • Human Resources: Will provide functional and/or administrative supervision for Motor Vehicle Operators and other drivers within department. Work with departmental Human Resources to ensure guidelines and rules are followed and to disseminate information.
  • Financial Responsibility: May initiate purchase requests for supplies and equipment. Monitor accounts/expenditures; reconcile statements.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist with coordination/preparation of strategic plans in support of department director related to driving responsibilities.
  • Information Management: Will be the primary contact for the Motor Vehicle Operators, Couriers, LMC Drivers, Central Sterilizing and Supply Chain.  Responsible for providing necessary information and responding to inquiries in a timely manner. Gather and provide information with available resources.
  • Communications Management: Prepare and administer correspondence. Serve as a liaison to Central Sterilizing Services, Supply Chain, Material Services and the drivers concerning inquiries or complaints requiring interpretation of policies, procedures and programs. May serve as the primary contact for Fleet Services.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum six months-1 year of logistics experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to create working relationships with team members, caregivers, vendors, etc.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of university policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, keeping multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously
  • Experience with SPM, PeopleSoft, Epic and Omnicell
