GIS Technician
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography/GIS, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 6 months of experience with technical GIS work and with GIS-related information systems.
- Knowledge of fundamental methodologies to perform technical geospatial data collection, processing, coordinate conversion, QA/QC, and management of GIS data.
- Proficient documentation and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Familiarity with Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment and surveying processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and to lead project tasks.
- A firm grasp of accepted design principles, specifically as they relate to cartography in print map development and graphic design.
- Meets overall business needs by prioritizing multiple competing tasks and effectively managing time.
- Must have high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and productive business relationships internally and externally; providing exceptional customer service and teamwork.
- Ability to traverse a construction site and drive. Valid Driver’s license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety driving Standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Autodesk software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or equivalent).
- Experience in GIS and spatial data sets at a government organization and/or university.
- Knowledge of the use of large format plotting.
- Knowledge of the use of CAD-based or CAD-integrated applications in the workflows of mapping and GIS feature/data maintenance.
