Responsibilities:
· Answer and route department phone calls.
· Schedule patients according to department procedures.
· Enter and verify patient information, dictations, and charges in AxiUm.
· Send confirmation and acknowledgement letters to refer providers for new patients.
· Monitor and manage incoming faxes.
· Review patient referrals and coordinate scheduling or waitlist placement.
· Process consults requests and update electronic health records in AxiUm.
· Enter pathology lab charges into the billing system.
· Order and maintain office supplies.
· Provide general admin and office support!
Health Information Technician I – GB34 (Merit)
College of Dentistry – Oral Pathology Radiology, and Medicine
Salary: $42,678.72
Typical Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
May require occasional overtime.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Certification or eligible for certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or
2. Two years of related experience, or
3. One year of health information experience and one year college level courses in physical or natural sciences.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Experience with patient interactions including scheduling within an electronic health record.
· Experience transcribing and entering patient medical/dental information, including charges.
· Experience utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and calendaring software (i.e. Microsoft Office or Google).
· Experience utilizing resolution skills and de-escalation techniques.
· Medical and/or dental terminology.
· Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
· Experience working with confidential/HIPPA protected information.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Excellent time management techniques, demonstrating the ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities.
