Health Records Analyst
Required Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, medical coding, health information technology, criminal justice, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
6 months – 1 year experience in record abstraction.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to function independently and prioritize time sensitive projects.
Familiarity with ICD-9 and 10CM coding system.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to travel, valid US driving license and ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard is required.
Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to review and code medical records according to rigorous protocols.
Demonstrated ability to summarize and write concise but specific narratives based on data.
Experience entering complex data into computerized databases.
Ability to relate well with outside agencies (police departments and county medical examiners).
Proficiency with computers using Windows and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access (or other data entry/management software).
Position and Application Details:
The two positions (one full-time and one half-time) are eligible for remote work. Remote work must be performed at a location within the state of Iowa and comply with the remote work program and related policies.
