REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with medical records, data abstracting, or Oncology Registry work
  • Certification as Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), AND/OR Certified Tumor Registrar
  • Be eligible to and successfully obtain Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification within three years of hire
  • Education or experience in human anatomy
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, needing minimal guidance
  • Excellent written verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a CoC (Commission on Cancer) Accredited Cancer Program
  • Experience managing complex information requiring attention to detail
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures and regulations
