HR Associate, Division of Student Life
Position Summary:
Works with Human Resource Coordinators in the Division of Student Life (DSL) HR transaction Hub, and communicate with DSL departments and University HR as directed. This person will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of HR transactions and TreeRing, including student appointments, compliance reports, and I-9 scheduling. This person will be assigned duties in the HR transaction Hub as needed. They may assist in the talent acquisition process in the DSL. Maintains focus on excellent customer service, attention to detail and collaboration throughout execution of the important HR functions.
Specific Job Duties & Tasks:
- Assist with maintaining data retained in electronic timekeeping system by entering and overseeing new hires and editing records as appropriate to ensure staff are paid on the correct MFKs. Research and resolve discrepancies. May receive, review and enter staff hours into appropriate reporting system for time and attendance.
- Provide support and assistance with implementation of HR practices, policies and initiatives within multiple departments and units in DSL.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to Assistant HR Director regarding HR operations and initiatives.
- Gather data and track employee information in support of HR practices/policies within department or unit.
- Provide initial guidance regarding policies and practices, direct to resources for further information or documents
- Answer questions and assist end users in system access and functioning of HR applications such as TreeRing, Self Service, Performance Management system, Compliance & Qualifications system and OTAC.
- Collaborate and participate as needed with scheduling interviews, conducting references, verifying credentials, and preparing offer letters.
- Support departments in recruiting and hiring of students and temporary positions.
- Initiate HR Transactions including appointments, leave of absence, change of status, special compensation, and terminations, etc.
- Ensure approved processes are followed; resolve problems using prescribed remedies; explain routine operations/processes to staff; produce reports and collaborate with departmental administrators on explanation of reports.
- Generate and distribute reports.
- Gather information and monitor compliance requirements as directed.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting human resources.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service for all employee populations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification and/or a commitment to the HR field through training and development.
- Prior experience in an academic or higher education setting.
