Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Strategic Leadership, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 5 years of progressive leadership, administrative or managerial experience in human resources in a complex and/or high-profile organization with multiple departments/units.
  • Knowledge of contemporary human resource principles, practices and processes and current federal and state laws, statues, regulations, policies and directives pertaining to human resources
  • Demonstrated expert/leader knowledge and ability to:
    • Plan and develop an organization’s HR enterprise in order to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.
    • Utilize outstanding verbal, written and electronic communication skills as demonstrated by
      • tailoring messaging to various audiences; including complex and highly sensitive information,
      • managing conflicts and investigations,
      • delivery of presentations or staff training, and
      • authoring/editing formal policy language.
  • Extensive ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to develop and improve individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to align the organization's people and culture with changes in the business strategy, organizational structure, technology, and business processes.
  • Extensive ability to recruit and develop the talent required for an organization to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively and collaboratively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including knowledge of effective strategies that foster and promote a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment. 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, etc.) or other professional HR certification.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational workforce planning and change management to align the workforce and culture to achieve organizational goals and measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated hands-on, collegial, and collaborative leadership style that is effective throughout all levels of the organization.
