Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically, 5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience that includes some experience with:
    • payroll and time keeping administration
    • supervision of staff
    • policies and procedures administration
    • employee relations
    • advanced, complex analysis in areas such as payroll, process improvement, etc.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply human resources concepts and best practices, to include knowledge of employment laws, such as FLSA, ADA, FMLA and other federal and state laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer software applications including Microsoft Office suite and human resources information systems
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field
  • Certification in Human Resources such as SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
  • Administrative experience in an organization with a large number of employees and complexity (i.e. union environment)
  • Experience with human resources functions, systems, processes and policies at The University of Iowa.
