Qualifications:

Education or Equivalency Required

A Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or laboratory animal science field, preferably biological or clinical sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or veterinary technician degree and laboratory animal experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in an animal care or research field and basic knowledge of regulatory compliance related to animal research.
  • Basic knowledge of animal techniques including anesthesia, aseptic technique, and drug administration as well as recognition of normal animal behavior and appropriate handling of laboratory animals.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and various database systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Considerable (4-6 years) experience in animal research compliance and regulations.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and regulatory affairs in animal research
  • Familiar with University animal research protocol and IACUC procedures.
  • Knowledge of related Federal, State and University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Registered Laboratory Animal Technologist (RLATG) certification
  • Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) certification
