The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Food & Nutrition is seeking an Inpatient Pediatric Dietitian II to direct the production and service of therapeutic and non-therapeutic meals and participate as a member of the medical team for nutritional care of patients and education of medical staff, medical students, dietetic interns and other nutrition staff.

  • Use Nutrition Care Process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for pediatric and NICU outpatients and inpatients 
  • Teach dietetic itnerns 
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and develop nutritional components of care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient’s status according to age

The department intends to hire one candidate from either Inpatient Pediatric Dietitian I, requisition 21004468, or Inpatient Pediatric Dietitian II, requisition 21004469, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) clinical nutrition experience 
  • Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric and NICU populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting 
  • Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
  • Must demonstrate experience working effectively in a diverse environment

Certifications

  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
