The Division of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an Instructional Services Coordinator.  The position provides user support services in the Center for Language and Culture Learning (CLCL), including training and consultation in the development and implementation of digital technologies to enhance instruction in a wide range of Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures (DWLLC), as well as in other university programs.

Duties to include:

  • Assists DWLLC faculty and TAs on special curricular or research and development projects.
  • Sets clear expectations for self to achieve work objectives and overcome obstacles, asking for assistance as needed.
  • Provides assistance to DWLLC faculty, staff, TAs, and students in the CLCL facility in the following areas: basic pedagogical or technical support for teaching, course management systems, and making CLCL facilities reservations.  
  • Maintains the CLCL check equipment check-out system.
  • Serves as ICON “concierge” specifically for faculty and TAs in American Sign Language, Linguistics, and International Studies, consulting and collaborating on the application of instructional design and tools in the delivery of instruction.
  • Conducts one-on-one training/provides technological assistance for faculty. May provide assistance to faculty outside of the DWLLC. 
  • Trains faculty, TAs, and students in the use of CLCL equipment (i.e., OBS) and software (i.e., Camtasia) and troubleshoots problems that arise.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree, preference given to education in a foreign language/ESL education, ASL, applied linguistics, educational technology, or related field. An equivalent combination of a Bachelor’s degree and related experience may also serve to meet this minimum requirement.

 Required Qualifications

  • Experience (minimum of 1 year) using or providing technological or pedagogical support for instructional technologies—applications, hardware, and software.
  • Demonstrates extensive proficiency in the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrates working level proficiency with desktop tools, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Canva.

Highly Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Advanced proficiency in ASL or willingness to continue training beyond Intermediate level is highly desired.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of processes for managing inventory and databases (i.e., acquisitions, cataloging, reserves, member registration)
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of and ability to provide instructional technology support for wide range of tools (software and hardware) used in instructional settings as well as alternative models of instruction: distance via videoconferencing, hybrid and online.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of and the ability to identify best practices for integrating multimedia technology into language learning/teaching and assessment.
  • Master’s Degree in a foreign language, foreign language/ESL education, applied linguistics, ASL educational technology or related field.
