Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science or related discipline preferred; equivalent education and/or relevant professional experience will be considered. 
  • Demonstrated skills to troubleshoot and investigate operational difficulties with medical, computer, and/or audiovisual equipment. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills: demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with a variety of users from various backgrounds. 
  • Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom. 
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 40 pounds occasionally and frequent 15-pound lift/push/pull in related tasks. Use of assistive equipment to move heavy materials or mannequins is expected. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex scheduling and balance multiple competing requests for resources. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a complex learning environment where disruptions to workflow are common. 
  • This position will require work outside of 8 am to 5 pm workdays. Candidates must have a high degree of scheduling flexibility. Work hours may vary from week to week and may include early mornings or evenings based on learning activities.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with health care setting 
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Previous experience with clinical simulation equipment or other complex technological devices.
  • Previous work experience in an academic environment and/or academic healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics policies, procedures, and regulations.
