The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety and Security is seeking a Compliance Coordinator/Investigator to function as a consultant, trainer, researcher, and champion for UIHC faculty, staff, students, visitors and workgroups concerned about potential violence and loss prevention.

To provide leadership for organizational programming of substantial complexity and impact with a variety of key partners throughout UIHC, i.e. Administration, Nursing Management, UI Police, Human Resources, UIHC-Safety and Security, and General Counsel.

 Duties to include:

  • Serves as a consultative resource to faculty and staff- providing expert knowledge and organizational consultation services in matters related to violence and loss prevention
  • Provides consultative, assessment, and service referral for high risk and extremely stressful, highly emotional clients as assigned
  • Conducts investigations involving loss prevention and other matters as necessary
  • Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects to gather information
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain records of investigations
  • Complete all investigations in a timely manner while collaborating with various departments such as: legal, compliance, human resources, and nursling leadership
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement officials and agencies
  • Conducts outreach and training for management, supervisors, faculty and staff about violence prevention, loss prevention, diffusing difficult situations, anger management and roles and responsibilities defined in the University of Iowa workplace safety policies and procedures as assigned
  • Ability to conduct security risk assessments that provide recommendations to mitigate risks involving potential physical hazards, while incorporating safety and promoting technologies.
  • Assist medical staff with disruptive patients. May be required to escort patients to appointments.  
  • Designs general program brochures, courses or other technical educational materials as required. Able to present on topics related to law enforcement.
  • Serve on committees as assigned

Pay Grade: 3B

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant behavioral health field/law enforcement or equivalent combination of education and experience
  •  2-5 years of experience in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Public speaking or training, including the proficient use of multimedia systems, is required

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UI policy and procedures
  • Knowledge of EPIC
  • Knowledge and understanding of management of aggressive behavior (MOAB)

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
