IT Project Coordinator - Specified Term
The IT Project Coordinator will serve as a project liaison and primary point of contact to coordinate and manage the deployment of small to medium-scale IT projects, reporting to and working under the guidance of the Director of the IT Project Management Office.
This position provides essential support across a wide range of strategic and operational initiatives. The Project Coordinator will assist project managers and the Director of the PMO with communication, documentation, and progress tracking, while also independently managing small to medium-sized projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Scheduling and facilitating meetings, including preparing meeting agendas
- Documenting minutes and action items
- Monitoring timelines and following up with responsible parties as appropriate
- Developing project status and close-out reports
The coordinator will also support PMO partners by assisting with business case and project plan templates and contributing to the ITS and OneIT Governance processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the role involves frequent collaboration with university faculty, staff, and external vendors.
This position has a project assignment through July 31, 2027, and is classified as a "specified term appointment" as a Project Coordinator (PAE1) with full fringe benefits.
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Typically, 2 months or more of project management experience working on small, medium, or large-scale projects. Internship and student experience will be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to develop and foster positive interpersonal relationships.
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Office tools, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Visio, and MS PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability, transforming technical and business requirements into solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and project team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team with a strong focus on customer service.
- Proficiency with online collaboration tools such as MS Teams, JIRA, MIRO, Zoom, Smartsheet.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Background managing project in an information technology environment is highly desired.
- Familiarity with Project Management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent is highly desired.
- Familiarity with writing requirements, documenting workflows and other business process management activities.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects.
- Experience developing and reporting on key performance indicators and project metrics.
- Experience with process improvement.
- Adaptability to new technologies.
