The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to perform a variety of laboratory tasks related to specimen collection/phlebotomy, specimen processing, waived testing supply distribution, computer/clerical duties and routine laboratory maintenance. 

This position is 75%-time, Monday-Friday from 1130-1800, with rotating coverage for absences.

Duties to include:

·        Performs phlebotomy.

·        Performs routine collections and laboratory testing on clinical biological specimens such as blood and body fluids

·        Uses the Laboratory Information System to accession specimens.

·        Performs, or may direct performance of, data entry, labeling and processing of specimens collected at Northgate Family Medicine.

·        Prepares specimens for transport to maintain specimen viability. Develops packing lists in a timely manner in advance of courier arrival.

·        Records results of laboratory testing and reports results in the Laboratory Information System and to clinicians in compliance with regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures for waived testing performed at Northgate Family Medicine.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

·        Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, OR

·        Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, OR

·        Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

Desirable Qualifications:

·        Experience performing phlebotomy is highly desirable.

·        Experience performing waived testing is highly desirable.

·        Experience working in a clinical laboratory is desirable.
