The Department of Pathology Histology Laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to perform difficult technical procedures and allied duties related to the function of a service laboratory; maintains laboratory area and equipment.  Performs a variety of laboratory tasks related to processing specimens, computer/clerical duties, routine lab maintenance, and supply distribution. This position is 100% time, Monday – Friday, 0500-1330.  

Duties to include: 

  • Delivers completed cases to appropriate personnel in the department of anatomic pathology (match-up).
  • Maintains Hematoxylin and Eosin automated stainer
  • Files paraffin blocks and unstained slides
  • Prepares reagents and chemicals.
  • Assists with laboratory inspections.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • High school plus two years of related laboratory experience, including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or
  • Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
  • Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

Special Qualifications:

  • Medical terminology
  • Biological science coursework, i.e. Anatomy, Biology, etc…

 Desirable Qualifications:

  • MLA(ASCP) certification or eligible.
