The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to, under general supervision, provides technical and other computer/clerical support related to the accessioning and client service functions of an outreach reference laboratory.  Performs a variety of triaging tasks related to receiving and processing client specimens through to UIHC laboratories for complex testing in an efficient manner. Act as a liaison with clients and laboratory staff to coordinate specimen preparation, transport, and complex testing. This position is 100% time, Monday- Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm.

 

Duties to include:

·        Registers patients and accessions, handles, and triages specimens sent by clients destined for UIHC laboratories.

·        Maintains the work environment.

·        Answers the telephone and responds to email requests demonstrating effective verbal and written communication skills.

·        Demonstrates time management skills

·        Performs other projects and tasks as assigned

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Two years of related laboratory experience, including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or 
  • Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or 
  • Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

·        MLA(ASCP) certification or eligible.

·        Biological science coursework, i.e. Anatomy, Biology, etc…

·        Familiarity with UIHC policies and procedures

·        Healthcare experience

·        Customer Service experience
