The University of Iowa Central Mail Services is seeking a Mail Clerk. This position will be responsible for the sorting, distributing, and dispatching of mail and parcels to customers within the University of Iowa. The person in this position will occasionally be required to move items up to 50 pounds. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

Duties to Include:

  • Sort and deliver mail.
  • Prepare, process and dispatch mail.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicle daily.
  • Reply to customer queries.
  • Check and verify work.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or holidays as needed.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. May be required to work overtime and/or holidays as needed.

Location: Mossman Business Services Building (MBSB)

 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Any combination of clerical experience or post high school education that totals one year, or

  • Equivalent training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Special Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 6 months experience working in mailroom environment.
  • Good communication skills and experience working on a team
  • Knowledge of University campus building locations
  • Knowledge of University policies
  • Experience driving straight trucks & vans
  • Knowledge of USPS regulations
  • Delivery experience
  • Experience operating metering & sealing equipment
  • Experience loading cargo using two-wheel cart
  • Experience with operating mail inserters &/or ink jet addressing systems
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
