Required Qualifications:

  • Education: ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
  • To be appointed at the Specialist Librarian classification: two or more years of related library experience and demonstrated interest in professional development that will enhance the candidate’s value to the Libraries, the University, the profession, or the scholarly community.
  • Experience cataloging in OCLC Connexion.
  • Knowledge of issues related to electronic resources cataloging.
  • Knowledge of RDA, LC-PCC PS, LCC, LCSH, LCGFT, LCDGT, LCMPT, and MARC21 formats, and familiarity with authority control and AACR2.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based setting where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion in the workplace or community.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the mission of a research university and the mission and functions of a large research library.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Recent experience cataloging electronic resources.
  • Experience with the systems and tools used in the department including one or more of the following: Alma, Primo, Islandora.
  • Experience with XML and XSLT.
  • Experience with non-MARC metadata formats including Qualified DC, MODS, or EAD.
  • Familiarity with OCLC’s Collection Manager and Record Manager programs.
  • Familiarity with BIBFRAME and linked data, and a general understanding of transition paths from MARC to BIBFRAME.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Bibliographic knowledge of one or more languages in addition to English.
  • Successful completion of NACO training.

The Libraries will be filling this position at one of two levels. The Librarian classification salary range is $49,000 - $51,000, and the Specialist Librarian classification salary range is $52,500 - $65,000. You must indicate in your cover letter the level of classification (Librarian and/or Specialist Librarian) you wish to be considered for or indicate both. See required qualifications for more information on classification level requirements.
