Nursing Assistant - Main Operating Room - 50% Nights

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Transports patients, equipment, specimens and supplies
- Recognizes and reports changes in the patient and the environment following department procedures and standards. Immediately alerts nursing personnel to emergency situations.
- Stock and supply patient rooms and nursing units.
- Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for nearness and cleanliness of unit.
- Gather equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse.
- Cleans areas per designated guidelines and standards demonstrating proper use of approved disinfectants, cleaning products and care of the housekeeping equipment.
- Ensures timely turnover of patient areas such as inpatient rooms, clinic rooms, and operating rooms
- Delivers messages, items, and/or amenities as requested.
- Assists patient's visitors with directions, information, and other general inquiries, as appropriate.
- Assist with running our 30+ ORs \
- Typical shift tasks include gathering equipment for cases (sometimes pushing up to 75 lbs), running labs, getting blood from kiosk/blood bank, taking specimens to lab, taking labs to their respective labs across the hospital, stocking rooms with linen, fluids, and medications from pharmacy, occasionally transporting patients to and from surgery, cleaning duties, and opening sterile supplies

Schedule: Friday & Saturday 11p- 9:30a
