The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Nursing Unit Clerk (NUC) to perform clerical, reception, and related duties relative to nursing care and services to patients.

 

7RC is separated into a 12 bed mood disorder unit and a 13 bed eating disorder unit. We will utilize an evidence based, patient-centered, interdisciplinary approach, with contributions from physicians, psychologists, advance practice providers, master level therapists, nurses, social workers, dieticians, occupational and recreational therapists, all striving to work collaboratively with patients and families to provide the best possible care. 7RC will feature a new collaborative position, behavioral health consultant, with the goal to elevate the patient and team outcomes. Evidence based therapeutic modalities utilized on the unit will include dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care.

 

Percent of Time: 90%
Schedule: 36 hours per week, Evening shifts between the hours of 1500 - 2330, Monday - Friday
Rotations: No weekends, no holidays
Salary: $28,188.00 per year
Location: Roy Carver Pavilion (RCP)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: 

1. Graduation from high school and any combination of clerical experience, health care experience and/or post high school education which totals one year, or

2. Any combination of clerical experience and/or health care experience which totals two years.

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • 6 months of clerical experience
  • Public contact/customer service experience
  • Medical terminology knowledge
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
