OBGYN Sonographer - IRL
Education Required
- CAAHEP accredited or equivalent program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography or Vascular Technology, or
- Completion of a two-year or more accredited health science program (i.e. Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Nursing, etc.) plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Sonography, or
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Sonography
Experience Requirements:
- Requires registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Requires travel to University of Iowa Outreach Clinics or off-site locations, weekend and holiday rotations.
- Requires travel to UIHC Main Campus for training.
- Requires valid Iowa Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Certification in scanning nuchal lucency by the Fetal Medicine Foundation is required in 9 months.
- Ability to use 25-50 lbs of force on a consistent basis and 100 lbs on occasion.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in OB/GYN.
- Desired experience performing invasive studies including CVS, amniocentesis, cordocentesis and saline infusion sonography.
- Desired experience scanning high risk obstetrics and fetal anomalies, monitoring follicular development during iatrogenic ovulatory cycles, and 3-D scanning with reconstruction.
