Online Course Coordinator OR Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS
COORDINATORS WILL BRING:
Education or Equivalency and Competencies Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of expertise, experience and education.
- 1-3 years of experience providing customer service to a wide range of clients.
- Demonstrated experience with computer operating systems, web browsers, and productivity applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and working independently with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new online tools and skills.
Demonstrates a Basic proficiency level in:
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and respectful manner while appreciating the unique contribution of an inclusive workforce that brings together the talents of people across multiple identities.
- Ability to meet or exceed customer service needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner. Ability to effectively transmit and interpret information through appropriate communication with internal and external customers.
- Project management skills with the ability to plan, identify, coordinate, and track critical activities, milestones, and deliverables
Demonstrates a Working proficiency level in:
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Qualifications Desired
- Basic understanding of the fundamentals of instructional design and online pedagogy.
- Experience with online learning, learning management systems, and/or web delivery tools.
- Experience developing training resources and delivering training sessions in-person or virtually.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with emphasis on creating formula and reporting functions.
SPECIALISTS WILL BRING:
Education or Equivalency and Competencies Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of expertise, experience and education.
- 1-3 years of experience in online teaching or using online instructional tools for teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated experience with computer operating systems, web browsers, and productivity applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical support or consultation in areas of instructional development and/or content delivery.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and working independently with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrates a Basic proficiency level in:
- Basic project management skills with the ability to plan, identify, coordinate, and track critical activities, milestones, and deliverables.
Demonstrates a Working proficiency level in:
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and respectful manner while appreciating the unique contribution of an inclusive workforce that brings together the talents of people across multiple identities.

- Ability to quickly learn and apply new online tools and skills, and the ability to research, evaluate, and recommend new tools for online content creation and/or delivery.
Qualifications Desired
- Knowledge of pedagogy, online curriculum, and/or course design.
- Training in instructional design or related fields, with an understanding of technology trends in higher education.
- Ability to create and deliver effective presentations and/or training sessions to a variety of audiences.
- Experience with HTML, H5P, and/or and web authoring tools.
- Familiarity with administrative tools used at the University of Iowa (i.e., MAUI, MyUI).
- Working knowledge of the Canvas learning management system and exam authoring tools such as Respondus 4.0.
Work Modality: This position is primarily on-campus and may be eligible for some flexibility and remote work (i.e., during break times and ad hoc) in alignment with dept policies and practices. Remote work must be performed at a location within the state of Iowa and comply with the remote work program and related policies.
Compensation:
The Coordinator classification anticipated starting annual salary range is $46,000-$49,000.
The Specialist classification anticipated starting annual salary range is $50,000 - $58,000.
