PA/ARNP Hospitalist - CVICU
The Department of Anesthesia at University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a PA or ARNP Hospitalist to join our team in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This provider will deliver high-quality, team-based care to critically ill adult patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, including those recovering from cardiac surgery, heart failure, and advanced cardiac interventions.
The Role:
· Perform comprehensive assessments, including history and physical exams, for critically ill cardiovascular patients.
· Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests and lab results to guide clinical decision-making.
· Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions in accordance with established protocols.
· Collaborate with attending physicians, cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and other care team members to coordinate treatment in the CVICU.
· Participate in the education of residents, fellows, and medical students rotating through the CVICU.
· Document all patient care activities, assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record.
· Provide education and support to patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedures, and care plans.

Required Qualifications:
· ARNP - A Master’s degree is required. A Master's degree or DNP in Nursing is preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required. Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
· PA - Graduation from an accredited PA educational program. Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
· Contributes to a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
