PA/ARNP Hospitalist - Pediatric Pain/Palliative Care
Education Requirement:
Physician Assistant (PA)
- Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by NCCPA.
Eligible to be licensed by the State of Iowa to perform as a Physician Assistant. Certification by the NCCPA.

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)
Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Nursing which include graduation from an accredited Master’s or Doctorate level nursing educational program and certification by an accepted accrediting agency.
Experience Requirements:
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
Current certification in specialty area (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Minimum of 3-5 years in a pediatric care hospital including nursing care of infants and children with complex acute and chronic life- threatening conditions, complex pain needs, and end of life care.
Demonstrate leadership skills with interdisciplinary team collaboration.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided

Highly Desired Qualifications:
Selected candidates will be expected to successfully acquire at least one of the advanced certifications within 2 years from the date of hire.
Certification as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Pediatric Nurse (CHPPN) through the Hospice & Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC).
Certification as a PMGT-BC (Pain Management Nursing Certification) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Selected candidates who have not previously completed advanced pain management and palliative care training will be expected to complete within the first year from the date of hire:
Completion of the UCSF CME Pediatric Pain Master Class.
Previous experience or willingness to learn integrative medicine approaches, such as acupuncture, auriculotherapy, biofeedback, aromatherapy, yoga, healing touch, Reiki, or similar practices.
