Parts Specialist/Service Writer
The University of Iowa Parking & Transportation Fleet Services is seeking a highly motivated person to work as a Clerk IV. This position is primarily responsible for the communication between Fleet Services customers and the shop. Additional responsibilities include managing the CAMBUS and Fleet Services parts inventories, and assignment of jobs to automotive repair technicians using various computer software.
This position is performed fully on campus.
Duties to Include:
Perform customer service functions
Manage supply chain activities including ordering specialized parts for vehicle repair and inventory, receiving orders from suppliers, and providing other inventory management activities
Initiate work orders for mechanics using the work order system
Process warranty claims with vendors

About the Parking & Transportation Department:
The Parking and Transportation Department provides and supports access, mobility, and transportation services to faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors of The University of Iowa. The department consists of five operating units: CAMBUS, Commuter Programs, Fleet Services, Facility Operations, and Parking Services. These units collaborate to provide a broad range of parking and transportation options and services.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Any combination of progressively responsible related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to four years of full-time employment.
Special Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy Standards.
CDL with air brake & passenger endorsements or ability to attain within 120 days of employment along with the ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy standards.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in computer usage with ability to learn new software.
Effective communication and strong organizational skills.
Strong customer services skills.
Prefer experience in an automotive related field such as repair shop, auto body shop, vehicle rental (Enterprise, Hertz, etc.) insurance adjuster, etc.
ASE Certified in vehicle parts.
Parts counter experience.
