University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Guest Services is seeking a 50% Patient Escort - Valet Parking. This position will be part-time 50% with hours to be scheduled between 1:30pm-7:15pm Monday-Friday. 

 Job Duties:

  • Safely drive valet parked vehicles
  • Perform valet parking duties as assigned
  • Greet patients and guest upon arrive to the hospital
  • Transporting and assisting UIHC ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients and guests to and from clinics, inpatient units and procedure areas via wheelchair, patient bed, patient stretcher, or walking them to their destination
  • Deliver wheelchairs to assigned areas
  • Problem solve when service recovery is needed
  • Assist patients and guests with questions and way finding needs
  • On occasion, drive a motorized transportation cart
  • Safely, perform guest services dispatch duties
  • Deliver moveable medical equipment throughout the hospital
  • Clean and store equipment
  • Drive late evening shuttle and perform other duties as assigned

 

Additional Info: This position has a blood-borne pathogen exposure risk. Must be able to regularly move heavy weight of 100 lbs, and occasionally in excess of 250 lbs via wheelchair or bed. Must be able to remain in a stationary position and move for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in inclement weather. Must be able to move for long periods of time.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions

Special Qualifications:

  • Driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Driving Record Review Standards

Desired Qualification:

  • Excellent customer service skills; experience working with the general public in a service environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; experience working with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to use a mobile phone and other electronic devices.

  • Ability to understand basic floor plan of UIHC.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to safely drive all types of vehicles.

  • Ability to exceed customer expectations.

  • Ability to move across long distances and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to perform duties indoors and outdoors
