Requirements for ARNP candidates:

 

Education Required:

 

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP):  A Master’s degree is required.  A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.  If a Master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Current certification as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with a complex patient population and diverse faculty, staff and students is required.
  • Prior direct patient care experience in area of pediatrics or demonstrated knowledge of clinical practice.
 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Clinical rotation or experience in Pediatric Oncology is highly desirable.
  • Experience providing overall medical care and provide medical management for     

    patients in a Pediatric inpatient or acute care setting is highly desirable.

  • Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services        
    provided is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing length of stay, improving resource utilization and  

    decreasing costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care

    is highly desirable.
 

Requirements for PA candidates:

 

Education Required

 

Physician Assistant (PA):  Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA. 

 

Experience Requirements

 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff and students is required.
  • Prior direct patient care experience in area of clinical practice or demonstrated knowledge of clinical practice.
 

Desirable Qualifications
