Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Eligible to enroll in the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and eligible to complete Board of Regents Field Training.

Special Qualifications: 

  • Valid Driver’s license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy.

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with the public that fosters good relations.
  • Awareness of the role that the Campus Safety plays and how the department supports the accomplishment of the University of Iowa’s mission and goals.
  • Ability to observe situations analytically, impartially, and objectively.
  • Previous experience with high stress / dynamic work situations.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks.
  • Intermediate to proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of communication skills, oral and written, in order to interact effectively with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
