Education Assistant
Education or Equivalency Required
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- 6 months to one-year supervisory experience
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute events, including the ability to identify and coordinate resources.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based setting where consultation, flexibility, collaboration and cooperation are essential.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity in the workplace or community.
- Demonstrated understanding of the mission of a research university and the mission and functions of a university museum.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated high attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel).
- Valid driver's license is required, as well as an ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Driving Record Review Standards (https://uiowa.edu/riskmanagement/vehicle-use)
Desirable Qualifications
- Advanced degree in museum studies, education, or related field
- Direct experience with planning, designing, and/or delivering educational programming in a museum setting.
- Ability to apply policies and practices for evaluating and assessing programs
- Ability to research best practices and provide recommendations
- Experience in higher education
- Working knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures and regulations
- Experience working in an environment where the development and delivery of educational programming is central to the organization's mission
