Required Qualifications

  • A BSN or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of related education and experience is required.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience with data abstraction and/or analysis of clinical data. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical record, including reporting functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of incorporating evidence-based practice techniques in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in health-related field or informatics
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
  • Demonstrated clinical experience with pediatric patients in a pediatric intensive care unit, cardiovascular intensive care unit and/or cardiac transplant
  • Computer proficiency with databases or software applications
  • Formal continuing education in performance improvement techniques, such as DMAIC, TQM, or similar nationally recognized techniques
  • Professional certification related to healthcare quality (i.e. CPHQ, ASQ)
  • Some (6 months - 1 year of experience) experience in public speaking, technical writing and/or teaching
