Rehabilitation Therapy Aide
Join our mission-driven team in the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care as a Rehabilitation Therapy Aide! We are looking for an energetic and compassionate individual to work under the supervision of our Occupational Therapists (OT) and Physical Therapists (PT) in a firsthand, high-energy environment. You will also perform designated tasks to assist in services provided by the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies. Duties to include:
• Under the direction of an Occupational or Physical Therapist, perform select exercises with patients who are recovering from neurologic/orthopedic injuries/surgeries; assist patients with cystic fibrosis with airway clearance techniques and monitoring aerobic exercise.
• Gather and prepare equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc.) for the therapy session.
• Assist the therapist by moving equipment (IV poles, wheelchairs, etc.) or assisting therapist while patient mobilizes.
• Prepares, maintains, and cleans treatment areas.
• Utilizes existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs.
• Ability to meet or exceed customer service needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner. Ability to effectively transmit and interpret information through appropriate communication with internal and external customers.
• Other tasks/responsibilities as needed/assigned.

• On Campus: This position is performed fully on the Medical Center University Campus.
• This position is Full-time, 100%
• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
Desirable Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience providing direct patient care to acute care inpatients.
• Experience providing techniques designed to clear airways (chest percussion, vibrating vest, coughing, etc.)
• Experience monitoring patients during aerobic exercise.
• Experience assisting patients in functional activities (getting in/out of bed, transferring, walking, etc.)
