Required Qualifications

* Candidate must have a BA/BSc degree in a field pertaining to molecular and cellular biology and/or biochemistry or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

* 3-6 months research lab work experience

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to efficiently and effectively communicate with team members.

* Must work well under time constraints within a high demand laboratory environment

* Must be adept at performing multiple tasks throughout a given day.

* Must be able to work independently as well as in a collaborative group setting.

Desirable Qualifications

* Mouse / animal research work expertise is highly desired

* Experience with mitochondrial metabolism assays – SeaHorse platform is highly desired

* Experience with differentiating adult induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is highly desired

* Experience with retinal ganglion cell biology is highly desired

* Human cell culture experience / aseptic technique is highly desired

* PCR / cloning experience is highly desired

* Experience isolating RNA, DNA and protein is highly desired

* Immunocytochemistry / Immunohistochemistry / Western blot experience is highly desired

* Familiarity with Macintosh computers, including the applications Microsoft Word and Excel, Filemaker Pro and Photoshop, Lab Director software.
