Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a biomedical related field, animal science, veterinary technology or other related science program or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in an animal caretaking or research laboratory environment
 
  • Previous animal research experience in a laboratory, veterinary office or animal hospital with an emphasis on rodent colony maintenance, breeding, and handling
 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal relationship skills
 
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel 
 
  • Familiar with procedures and regulations of the Office of Animal Resources
 
  • Ability to work independently while being reliable and efficient with time management
 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with rodent colony management and caretaking
 
  • IACUC knowledge and familiarity with up to date compliance rules and regulations
 
  • Experience with DNA techniques:  DNA isolation and PCR
