Position Qualifications:
 
Education Required
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
Experience Requirements
  • Requires the practical or academic knowledge of basic molecular biology plus the ability to translate, adapt and apply this knowledge
  • A minimum of six month’s experience working in a molecular biology clinical research laboratory.
  • Experience in PCR, isolation of RNA, DNA and protein, gel electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing.
  • Experience in DNA manipulation including cloning techniques, plasmid preparations, restriction analysis and fragment purification.
  • A working knowledge of genetics, including concepts of dominant/recessive, chromosomes, markers.
  • An understanding of DNA databases, restriction maps and PCR primers.
  • Experience in consistently following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Proven ability to work in a high project volume work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
Desirable Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Macintosh computers, including the applications Microsoft Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro, Lab Director and Progeny.
  • Consistent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize projects to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organization skills and comfortable working within a group and independently.
