Research Assistant

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires the practical or academic knowledge of basic molecular biology plus the ability to translate, adapt and apply this knowledge

A minimum of six month’s experience working in a molecular biology clinical research laboratory.

Experience in PCR, isolation of RNA, DNA and protein, gel electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing.

Experience in DNA manipulation including cloning techniques, plasmid preparations, restriction analysis and fragment purification.

A working knowledge of genetics, including concepts of dominant/recessive, chromosomes, markers.

An understanding of DNA databases, restriction maps and PCR primers.

Experience in consistently following Standard Operating Procedures.

Proven ability to work in a high project volume work environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with Macintosh computers, including the applications Microsoft Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro, Lab Director and Progeny.

Consistent attention to detail and accuracy.

Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.

Ability to effectively prioritize projects to consistently meet deadlines.

Excellent organization skills and comfortable working within a group and independently.
