Position Qualifications:

Education Required

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or related educational field with 1 year of related research experience or an equivalent combination of education and research experience is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.   Proven interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience working on multiple projects at a given time with some level of independent decision making and responsibility.
  • Experience publishing scientific manuscripts.
  • Experience with Microsoft office software including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures as set forth by the IRB and sponsoring agencies.
  • Animal handling experience including surgical procedures.  Experience with larger animal models such as ferret, pig, or other large animal models is preferred.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with all aspects of research related to the respiratory cell biology field.
  • Previous experience in evaluating primary epithelial stem cells in cell migration and clonogenicity assays. 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, IT services and standards.
