REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or other biological science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in an academic research environment or pathology laboratory.
  • 8+ years of laboratory experience with standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques (e.g., cloning, nucleic acid and protein isolation from human and animal tissue samples, PCR/qPCR, Western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry), common cell biology techniques (e.g., immunocytochemistry/immunohistochemistry), and imaging (e.g., digital microscopy, confocal microscopy, etc.).
  • 8+ years of pathology/histology experience working with animal and human tissue specimens, including necropsy, routine and specialized tissue handling, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with tissue culture and aseptic technique (i.e., establishing and maintaining primary cell lines, human iPSCs, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques (e.g., nucleic acid extraction, PCR/qPCR, ICC/IHC, Western blot, cloning, reading DNA sequences, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Macintosh and PC computers, including the applications Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Photoshop is desirable.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Expected to work independently and collaboratively. Training in advanced techniques will be provided by the Laboratory Director/Principal Investigator, or other appropriate laboratory personnel on an ongoing and as needed basis.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Functional supervision of laboratory personnel and student workers may be exercised.
