Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in a mental health field such as Psychology, Counselor Education or in a related field, and must be licensed or license-eligible to provide clinical services. 
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Iowa (or license eligible) 
  • Counsel for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) or American Psychological Association (APA) accreditation  
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in school settings  
  • Experience providing mental health services to school-aged youth and/or adults 
  • Training and experience in evidence-based practice for crisis prevention, intervention, and postvention in schools 
  • Experience in risk assessment and crisis intervention with school-aged youth 
  • Experience in creating and presenting clinical mental health resources and best practices to school-based clinicians 
  • Experience formulating diagnostic conceptualizations and treatment plans utilizing criteria from the DSM-5 
  • Knowledge of State of Iowa suicide training and crisis response requirements in Iowa Schools 
  • Knowledge of mandatory reporting statutes and processes in the state of Iowa 
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with referral sources, families, and local communities 
  • Experience working with diverse populations 
  • Evidence of collaboration, collegiality, professionalism, and positive professional relationships 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of clinical experience in schools and/or behavioral health settings 
  • Experience with a broad range of student mental health and disability populations, including depression, suicidality, anxiety, trauma, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. 
  • Experience in the provision of evidence-based interventions for psychotherapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, etc.) 
  • Experience in short-term individual and group intervention delivery with school-age youth 
  • Extensive experience working directly in schools/academic settings or in consultation with schools/academic settings 
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to practicum students
