Senior Academic Advisor
The Senior Academic Advisor provides coordination for academic operations within the College of Education’s Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations undergraduate programs: Education Studies and Human Relations (ESHR) and Counseling and Behavioral Health Services (CBHS). Provides academic advising for ESHR and CBHS students. Contributes to a welcoming and student‑centered environment as part of the departmental team.
Specific Job Duties and Tasks:
- Provide academic advising including plans of study; advise on course selections, add/drop procedures, time to completion, tuition policies, and graduation requirements. Advise on academic probation and withdrawals.
- Coordinate evaluation of transfer credit. Facilitate exceptions to department policies and procedures concerning transfer courses or major requirements.
- Advise current and prospective students regarding admission.
- May assist Director of Administration with scholarship process.
- Support students in finding and applying for experiential learning opportunities, including guidance on required paperwork and contacts needed to secure internship/practicum
- Consult with community partners to establish potential experiential learning partnerships.
- Responsible for scheduling CBHS and ESHR fall, spring, and summer courses in MAUI including room assignments and instructor information.
- Liaise with faculty, adjuncts, TAs, department administrators, and the Registrar regarding courses and scheduling policies.
- Monitor course enrollment, assist with course scheduling, inform applicants on course requirements.
- Assist Recruitment Specialist with recruiting events for undergraduate programs, with emphasis on ESHR and CBHS programs.
- Assist department leadership in reviewing funding for TA/adjuncts allocation for undergraduate courses.
- Assist with issuing contracts to TAs and adjuncts for each semester.

Education Required:
- Master’s degree in student affairs, education, or a relevant field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with undergraduate students in an academic setting. Typically, one to three years of related experience.
- Experience in undergraduate advising; knowledge of and ability to address the advising needs of students.
- Familiarity with career development and/or recruiting, job search strategies, and professional networking.
- Demonstrated experience in and ability to establish positive relationships with university and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with postsecondary curricula and the ability to use curricula to guide individuals on requirements for learning and development needs.
- Program management experience.
- Experience with postsecondary student policies, procedures, and systems.
- Experience in public speaking.
- Experience with planning, implementing, and assessing programs and their impact.
