Senior Behavioral Health Clinician
Education Requirement
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Required Qualifications
- An Independent License to practice social work or counseling in Iowa is required (e.g. LISW, LMHC).
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice experience in school and/or behavioral health settings.
- Experience with providing individual therapy.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments.
- Experience in providing evidence-based interventions (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc.).
- Experience formulating diagnostic conclusions and treatment plans utilizing criteria from the DSM-5 TR.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Evidence of collaboration, collegiality, professionalism, and positive professional relationships.
- Knowledge of mandatory reporting statutes and processes in the state of Iowa.
- A valid driver’s license is required, as is continued compliance with the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards (University of Iowa Operations Manual Part V, Chapter 19).
Desired Qualifications
- Experience providing mental health services to school-aged youth.
- Experience providing mental health services to adults.
- Experience in providing group therapy.
- Specialized training and experience in crisis response.
- Experience with grief, loss, and trauma.
- Experience with specific mental health populations, including depression, suicidality, anxiety, and substance use.
- Experience working directly in schools/academic settings or in consultation with schools/academic settings.
- Experience providing clinical supervision to practicum students.
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with referral sources, families, and local communities.
