Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Typically, three or more years of successful professional experience that includes:
    • Demonstrated ability to perform period accounting close and prepare financial statements and supporting managerial schedules.
    • Demonstrated ability in budget development and reporting.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of MS Excel spreadsheets including the ability to extract financial data from various accounting and information systems to develop reports and perform analyses, sometimes with large datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity while managing multiple projects of varying deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with a diverse population.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle budgeting and SmartView or similar budget applications.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Professional experience in an academic college or department.
