Education Requirement 

Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Strategic Leadership, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience  

 

Required Qualifications   

  • 7-10 years of progressive leadership administrative or managerial experience in human resources in a complex and/or high-profile organization with multiple departments/units 
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and performance management consulting.   
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound systemic and thoughtful decisions using good judgement.  
  • Proven ability to effectively supervise a large and experienced HR team, including professional staff.  
  • Demonstrated leadership and knowledge of contemporary human resource principles, practices and processes and current federal and state laws, statues, regulations, policies and directives pertaining to human resources.   
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively and collaboratively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including knowledge of effective strategies that foster and promote a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.

 

Desirable Qualifications  

  • Demonstrated expert/leader knowledge and ability to:   
    • Plan and develop an organization’s HR enterprise in order to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.  
    • Utilize outstanding verbal, written and electronic communication skills as demonstrated by:
      • Tailoring messaging to various audiences; including complex and highly sensitive information.
      • Managing conflicts and investigations.
      • Delivery of presentations or staff training.
      • Authoring/editing formal policy language.  
    • Implement effective strategies for promoting a welcoming and respectful work environment based on the principles of affirmative action and equal opportunity.  
    • Demonstrate experience in organizational workforce planning and change management to align the workforce and culture to achieve organizational goals and measurable outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated experience (typically 3-5 years) working in one of the following is highly preferred:   
    • Human Resource Management experience in a public sector or higher education environment, or  
    • Senior leadership role at a university with a high level of collaboration between University HR and local department/division. 
  • Demonstrated hands-on, collegial and collaborative leadership style that is effective throughout all levels of the organization. 
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, etc.) or other professional HR certification.
