Senior Sonographer or Sonographer - Echo Lab ($5,000 Sign-on Incentive) - UI Heart and Vascular Center
Senior Sonographer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Radiation Sciences or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a bachelor’s degree in Radiation Sciences is highly desirable.
- Extensive (3-5 years) progressively responsible experience in diagnostic medical sonography or vascular sonography.
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or other nationally recognized accreditation organizations for primary specialty.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience providing clinical education to students and junior sonographers and residents.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.
- Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography required within nine (9) months following the start of employment.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required by start of employment.
- Membership in appropriate professional societies is desired.
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or other nationally recognized accreditation organizations in two or more specialty areas is desired.
Sonographer Qualifications:
- Completion of CAAHEP accredited or equivalent program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography or Vascular Technology OR
- Completion of a two-year or more accredited health science program (i.e. Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Nursing, etc.) plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Sonography OR
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Cardiac Ultrasonography.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with patients/families, nursing staff and other multi-disciplinary team members.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.
- Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography required within nine (9) months following the start of employment.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required by start of employment.
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Cardiac Ultrasonography.
- AART (CI) certification.

This opening will be filled at one of two levels. The Senior Sonographer classification salary range is $63,829 - $115,528, and the Sonographer classification salary range is $58,026 - $105,026. You must indicate in your cover letter the level of classification (Senior Sonographer and/or Sonographer) you wish to be considered for or indicate both.
